Teaching Mathematical Thinking (TMT) Courses

TMT courses at the Boise State Regional Math Center are funded by the Idaho State Department of Education and offered by Idaho Regional Math Centers to satisfy the MTI Course requirement in State of Idaho teaching (re)certification.

At a Glance

  • Courses include an emphasis on grades K-3 or 4-9 content, but all educators are welcome to enroll.
  • Spring 2019 course registration started November 1, 2018.
  • Summer 2019 course registration started March 1, 2019.
  • Fall 2019 course registration started May 1, 2019.

Registration

  • Registration is limited, and requires payment for the 3 professional development credits ($180) at registration.
  • Online registration/payment is usually uncomplicated (see links below), but if you encounter problems please contact Extended Studies assistance at (208) 426-1709 or email ExtendedStudies@boisestate.edu.
  • Summer TMT Courses – for teachers who need to re-certify by August, if you complete the TMT course (MTI equivalent) by August 31 you will meet the re-certification requirement. The SDE recommends you turn your application and fee in May, with a note that the verification of completion of the TMT course will be coming.

TMT Course Schedule

Fall 2019 TMT Course (Grades 4-9 Emphasis)

  • Ramey Uriarte, instructor
  • Participation is through a hybrid format, including two all-day Saturday meetings, plus online modules completed at your own pace.
  • Face-to-meetings: 8:30- 4:00 on September 7 & October 19.
  • Location- Boise State University Campus
  • Online modules: September 11- November 16


Fall 2019 TMT Course (Grades K-3 Emphasis)

  • Giselle Isbell, instructor
  • Participation is through a hybrid format, including two all-day Saturday meetings, plus online modules completed at your own pace.
  • Face-to-meetings: 8:30- 4:00 on September 7 & October 19.
  • Location- Boise State University Campus
  • Online modules: September 11- November 16


August 2019 TMT Course (Grades K-3 Emphasis)

  • Participation is all-day, in-person, face-to-face.
  • Face-to-face meetings during August 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
